Day 20 - OSLO

4 juli 2015 - Oslo, Noorwegen

Seeing Oslo was cool! So much to see, with such nice weather. Yeah! :-)

The morning started of good; slowly. Around 10h we woke up and ate breakfast. Ina's vacation started today, so she had time to visit the city with me :) We started of with a nice walk along a small (waterfall) river with a park surrounding it. Again we had nice conversation, this time about her work with young cancer patients, alcohol rules in Norway and the social system.
We passed an old silo building which was converted to a student home: so cool! It even had a old tram inside!
Next we went into a 'market hall', very similar to the one in Rotterdam, but than built in a old tram repair workshop. The old cast iron construction and cranes were still inside and looked fantastic! :-)

We walked in the old city centre, along the train station and the tourist harbour. There we took the boat to one of the islands and enjoyed the sun. We made a small walk there, but since we didn't plan anything today we had to be back home in time to buy alcohol for a party we were going to. In Norway they have weird rules about when to buy alcohol: during weekdays you can only but it till 20h and in the weekend till 18h. This should prevent people from 'unplanned drinking'.
A bit irritated by the rule, we went to Ina's home and bought two six packs. After that (16:30) we decided to go to the big ski jump (Holmenkollen) in Oslo. We got there by metro and bus: it took pretty long because of roadworks. But in the end we came there. While sitting in the metro we met a Dutch (older) couple who were travelling in Norway. We had nice conversation and went up the ski jump.
The ski jump looked impressive: a very big steel construction and a very nice stadium! We got up to the ski jump outlook point to enjoy the view. What a fantastic place with a terrific view!
We were there for half an hour after returning home.

While riding the bus we ordered pizza, which was ready when we came to pick it up. We ate it in the indoor garden between the apartment block. It was so nice.

After that we made ourselves ready for the party! Going there by bus was 15min. We came at this party with al sorts of people. The apartment looked very artistic with al kinds of things laying around. Also the people were interesting: I talked to a teacher, a engineer (always good), and a props maker. There were also three blind people at the party, which were nice. It was a cool experience: people were friendly, we made a beer tower and we drank coffee-Baileys! The party ended around 4h, and we took the night bus home. We walked one of the blind girls home, and arrived home ourselves around 5h. Though it was already light for one hour, I could still fall asleep :-)
