Day 14 - Varberg-Göteborg

I reached a new milestone today: Göteborg! It was a short (65km) and fast trip. I even had (relative) good weather (=wind)

The day started pretty early for me, since I had to go to the toilet at night. I didn't watch the time, but it becomes light very early here (~ 04:30). Without curtains, it is already light. Also the fact I hit my head against the doorpost didn't help me. Eventually I fell a sleep again.

The morning started good with a nice breakfast! I had some nice conversation with my Couchsurfers. He also showed me around in the attic, showing me his map collection and his 'home cinema'. Around 10h I left the farm. Thanks for your hospitality!

The weather wasn't great, since the sky was cloudy/dark and humidity level was still high from the rain that had been falling in the morning. I got my shoes wet before I got onto my bike, but after cycling they dried relatively fast. The wind was actually nice, not so hard, but it was in the good direction. The flat area helped me to hit decent travelling speeds, which enabled me to make this a short cycling day.

The scenery wasn't very special, but my second stop was. This guy asked me in Swedish if the road was good. "Sure mate!" I answered! We started talking; he told me he had cycled from Sweden to Morocco! Very cool! Also nice to know there are more crazy people around ;-) I showed him my travel plans, which he liked, and we had a nice time. At the same time weather became better (less clouds).
Close to Gothenburg I enjoyed a Turkish pizza, before going to my next Couchsurfer.

The door was opened by Eva, a Belgian student from Gent. She just finished her studies and lived in a nice student complex in Gothenburg. We had nice conversations and went to the shop to get some groceries for diner. As we got to know each other we started an interesting discussion about having kids. Not us of course ;) Around six, her brother came to town, who was so kind to make us diner!
Afterwards we went to the city to see some local bars! One of the bars had a very nice view on the Göte, overseeing the Stena Line port. When I ordered a beer, prices were not to bad, about €5. When asked for a local beer, I of course got the most expensive one (which didn't sad it was from Gothenburg)... Anyhow, we had a nice time :) The other café was a film theatre, including a hipster café. After that we went home and I crashed onto a nice big couch :-)
