Day 5 - HAMBURG

Day 5 was my first resting day! I had a fun day in Hamburg and enjoyed the Hamburger student life! :-)

After my cycling trip to Serbia (last year) I realized that cycling without resting is quite hard. But no cycling means I have to do something else. When I woke up, one of David's room mates was in the kitchen (David had to work today).
Veronika was a nice girl who studies biology and agriculture: she told me all about bananas and weeds. So no I'm up to date on that topic too ;-) The conversation was so much fun, we talked for hours: she forgot to go to university and I forgot, I had a city to visit: Hamburg! :-)

I took the S-bahn to the city centre, going to the Hauptbahnhof. First I went shopping, since I left my (only) jeans at my first Couchsurfer. After buying pants, I went to the old harbour area and went to Miniatur Wunderland: the biggest model train set of the world! Wondering around in the different countries (Switerland, Austria, Germany, USA) was great! So much details in this Model Bahn, it's unreal! Also the airport model was fantastic! Planes taking of and guided to the gate, so cool! :-D
After wondering around for a few hours, feeling like a child again, I met with David in the city.

We took the boat which goes along side the second biggest port of Europe (Rotterdam is number 1 ;-) It was really cool to see the big cranes and deep-sea container ships. The waves hitting the bow and the front windows of the ferry was cool. Also conversation with David was nice: he really is a interesting and relaxed guy! ^^

Cooking at home was a lot of fun, with his international room mates. French, Finish, Italian, they were all nice. A thing that I found remarkable was that everybody spoke (proper) German: Viele malen besser als mein Niederländsch-Deutsche Sprache ;)

Friday night is student-party (or 'borrel') night at this student home! Since I had to cycle the next day (to Lübeck), it was not very smart to go to such a party. But luckily the beer-cola-beer-... tactic worked! ;-) People from other student homes in the neighbourhood came to the underground bar, including a table tennis area. We played some darts and table tennis, drank some cocktails: life is fantastic! :-D The party ended quite late (~3h), but tomorrow I only have to do 75km. Hahaha -_-'
