Day 10 - KØBENHAVN

24 juni 2015 - København, Denemarken

Today I had a resting day in Copenhagen! Though the weather wasn't very good, I had a nice day in the city centre :-)

It started very relaxed: I lay on my mattress till 10h and ate some breakfast first. Then I got on the street to find a bike repair shop. I went to multiple shops to ask the price for an outer tire (including labour). It started of with 450 DKK (~€60) at the first shop and dropped to 350 DKK (~€45) at the third shop. I was still not convinced, so I asked if he could take something of the price. In the end the Iranian guy replace my tire for 300 DKK :-) After waiting 30min I left the shop a happy chap! :-D

In the afternoon I went to the city by bus (to give my legs a rest) and had a nice conversation with the bus driver. I left the bus at the city hall and from there I walked in the centre. First to Christianhavn and then to København.
First I climbed a big tower with golden top. It looked really cool from the outside. The inside was nice as well, with all the medieval style stairways and bells. As I came to the top, I went outside to the balcony. But this was actually very small and very 'open'! Normally I don't have problems with height, but this time I didn't feel very safe. I held on to the walls to try and climb to the top. As I was going around the tower, wind blew very hard and got me scared! o_O So I stayed there for a little bit, but I couldn't take the fear of heights away. I enjoyed the view and went down again.

As I like climbing old church towers and wind was still blowing hard (it was better to be inside), I found myself another tower: the Rundetaarn! This is actually a famous tower among Dutch children who watched Bassie & Adriaan! In this tower my childhood memories came back of balls flying true the halls, scaring of bad guy B-1-0-0 ^^ A trip to memory lane! :-D
The view was nice, seeing the city from another side. A large balcony was present here, so not fear of heights ;-)

My trip continued along the main shopping street towards the train station. I got into the Lego store which was nice. Also the train station looked pretty cool. It was built of big wooden arches. Pretty awesome!

Around six I came home, same time as Joana and her Belgian friend. We went to get donuts, after which we did groceries for dinner. Another Portuguese PhD friend joined us and we had a lovely diner. All these people from different nationalities, fantastic! The grilled meat was nice and the cake also. We had a good time. Around midnight I went to bed.
